Mijas/Marbella, eating out-recommendations?

We are in Spain for a week in search of sunshine. Staying just outside Mijas. We went to Marbella old town on our first night and had an ok meal, went for tapas in Mijas yesterday lunchtime and had the worst tapas ever, all microwaved, horrible quality stuff, chorizo in unreduced red wine, vile.

There are so many places to eat, I can't believe there aren't any good ones but it feels like a lottery at the moment. We don't want fine dining (3 young dc's), but don't mind paying for decent food, can anyone please recommend anywhere within 20 mins ish drive? Think of venturing slightly further, to Puerto Banus, for a wander round and dinner tonight.

There is a bodega on a little street off Avenida Del Mar on Marbella. Don't know if it does evening food but its tapas is wonderful. can't remember the name either! But stand at the top of the Avenida facing the sea and it's the first side street on the left. go for lunch if nothing else. :)

Albert's by the port in calahonda is great for families.

Don't know if this is too late but Picasso in Puerto Banus does nice Pizza/Pasta. Very popular and very child friendly. Not sure if it's still there but La Comedia in Marbella old town was always good. If u want to venture into the hills then Benhavis is lovely with loads of good restaurants. Wish I was there! ! HTH.

Thanks very much. We actually ended up in Picasso that evening and it was great, fantastic kids meals and very relaxed, definitely seemed like the best option there! May go up to Benhavis this evening now. Is Alhondra worth a visit too? It's not even mentioned in our guide book so have no idea about it...
