About to book ferry to spain...Bilbao or Santander?

We've never been to mainland spain and were aftet ideas of where to head towards. I know france well but we're spain virgins!!

We like beaches, castles, historic towns, adore markets and will most definitely book somewhere with a pool.

All ideas much appreciated.

they are only about an hour apart I think, in driving terms.

we sailed into Bilbao and went to the Guggenheim museum which was great. just check the opening days and times if you want to go there as it was closed on the day we landed.
