Train to Bruges

Would like to take my ten year old daughter to Bruges for the weekend. Have discovered that you can't book directly, but you go to Brussels and change there.
Has anyone any tips about booking the train? Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks Lara

The service from Brussels to Bruges is a local service so regular and no bookings. So Eurostar to Brussels then change. Brussels is really easy to navigate around. DD is 9 I have do several European train journeys and in December we are going to Munich on the overnight sleeper. Great fun.
