West End tickets - too risky to buy on the day?

We want to see Singin in the Rain which the dds are mad about. Tix are very expensive of course.

Has anyone done the 'queue up and buy that morning' successfully? Or is this best if you don't mind pot luck? It'd be a Saturday in the hols as well, so probably quite busy I'd think?

Thank you

I have been to many shows by just going in to the box office and asking if there are any bargains.

However it has only been one if me (not at a weekend) and I am happy to see anything, I just walk round the west end looking. I only went specifically to billy Elliott as that was off the beaten track as it were.

I never go to the kiosk in Leicester square that seems expensive.

Usually pay less than £20 sometimes ascheap as £10 but I haven't been for a while!

Thanks. That's the problem I think - we want to see Singin specifically and we're travelling a fair distance to get there. Soooooooo expensive tho!
