Majorca, transfers & car seats??

We are off to Majorca end of June with our nearly 8month old daughter. We have our transfers sorted however, the company are saying that they will not have car seats fitted. Does anyone know what the protocol is for travelling in Majorca with small infants?? Do thay have the same rules as UK? I'm happy to take our car seat with us for the transfer journey however feel nervous about it going in the hold of the plane due to potential "damage" that could occur whilst it's being thrown about. I will be ringing the airline to check the situation however just wondered if anyone had any pearls of wisdom or things to watch out for from their experience.
Many thanks in advance. :)

Hi there. We're going to Majorca at the end of June too with our 13 month old son. We' ve booked our transfers with "Majorca Airport Transfers" and they are providing a car seat for him. Not sure about the actual rules but we had no problem when we requested this. HTH

I bought a cheap 2nd hand one for this purpose, and then left it at the airport on the way back. You can usually get them for peanuts on E-bay, or ask on the wanted forum? I've just given our spare one away or you could have had that. :) It was really useful for coach trips etc as well whilst we were on holiday.

I'd take your own even if they offer to supply one. The car seat we were given in Lisbon was unusable, we had to spend a whole day looking for another car.
Will she still be in her carrier seat. I thought you could take those on planes?

We have also used \link{http://www.majorca-airport-transfers.com/\Majorca Airport Transfers}and the seats they supplied were good and well fitted. If the plane isn't full you may be able to take an infant carrier on board with you and place it on an empty seat.

tottenham, we have just had a nightmare with our transfers to and from palma mallorca, even if you do take your own car seats you had better check you can secure them as the minibuses we were put in didnt even have seat belts Shock (my thread is further down regards shuttledirect!) Good luck Smile and have a great hol xx
