Child-friendly pubs in St Albans

We are meeting up with some friends this Saturday in St Albans and would like to have lunch in a child-friendly pub. We don't know St Albans very well so Can anyone recommend a good place to go? It doesn't have to be central but needs to be either near a park or ideally have it's own soft play area. We will have children aged between 1 and 9. Just want some way of being able to catch up with friends whilst keeping the children amused and staying as warm as possible!
Any ideas gratefully received.

Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, supposedly Britain's oldest pub and right next to Verulamium park.
Child friendly, but no soft play area. I don't know any pub with a soft play area,
tbh.

Thanks for replying. This could be a good option as the children could at least let off steam in the park afterwards. Might have to cancel the day anyway depending on how far this way the snow comes.
