any ideas where we can go, Ive been looking at Barcelona but flights are mega expensive so hikes prices up, we would like:

2 nights - going 23-25 May
abroad in a city also in the thick of it, not outskirts as not much time
b&b or room only
flying from Midlands airports

what do you think?

Amsterdam, we've been a couple of times - loads to do/see and cheap to fly to

Or Venice, although more expensive when you're there - is lovely

Marrakech. If you can find cheap flights then accomodation is very cheap for a very high standard. Stay in a riad inside the Medina.

thanks for suggestions -really need to fly no more than 2.5 hours i really dont fancy Amsterdam

Valencia could be a good alternative to Barcelona, plenty to see & do there, and it will probably be cheaper. Not sure about direct flights from E Mid though, you might have to go from Stansted.
Or what about Rome? Lovely weather & food, plenty of budget hotels in the city centre.

Palma is lovely

Berlin?

Geordieminx · 18/03/2013 18:57

Madrid?

Or if you didn't have to be "abroad" what about Edinburgh? The money you save on flights would get you a lovely hotel.

Paris

Copenhagen?

Berlin is interesting. I loved Munich. Yy to Venice or Rome. DH went to Wroclaw in Poland and thoroughly enjoyed it. Palma is lovely but we struggled to fill 2 days! It's quite small!

Prague. Insanely romantic, was 50 quid a night to stay at 5 star Savoy, including fabulous breakfast, welcome bottle of champagne, giant gingerbread tree, strawberries.

41notTrendy · 18/03/2013 19:23

Ooh yes Prague!

ThePavlovianCat · 18/03/2013 19:27

Naples or Seville

Carcassone in SW France. Small but lovely. We're going back with ds this summer!

Lisbon or Madrid.

We managed to do Venice for 2 people for 3 nights in March 2012 for £390. Did get return flights for about £65 each and stayed in Palazzo Abadessa. It was lovely.

Bruges or Copenhagen or Dublin.

How about Budapest? Food and wine is fabulous, if the weather is rotten there are lots of baths you can relax in, if weather is nice the city is beautiful and it's not too pricey either.

Another vote for Carcassonne, sw France. You can also fly to Montpellier or Beziers all quite near. Cheap flights usually available and a beautiful area.

Prague or Krakow.
