Weve had abit of a rough time of late and DH will be working a fair bit now so want to go away for a couple of nights over easter.

Want a nice hotel with a pool so we can come back and have a splash about after being out all day - us and our DS age 8.

We are East Mids so dont want to be going to Scotland or way past London.

Was thinking of York but cant find a reasonably priced hotel

Could you recommend anywhere?

Try The Dalmeny in St Anne's near Blackpool. Lovely, very family friendly hotel with a pool, with all the attractions of Blackpool on the doorstep but a nice place to retreat to. Great bar & restaurant, often has live music, usually a kids club or programme of activities at weekends and holidays, spa for mums, gym everything. We've been several times with big family groups, first time when my son was 2 weeks old so I have a real soft spot for the place! It's really good.

We did the Marriott in Bristol (there are two, I think it was the City Centre one) one year on a very good meals included deal. Has pool and lots to do, SS Gt Britain, Science Centre, Bath not too far etc? It seems to regularly feature good deals, think it's the Escape Family packages you need to look for. Some of the others have similar good deals.

I did a little mini break to Hilton Double Tree hotel in Sheffield last October half term. We took the DC to Magna Science Center one day and visited Chatsworth House (which is beautiful) the other day. We booked 2 interconnecting rooms on a dinner bed and breakfast package. You would need a car to visit the places which were about 30 minutes from the hotel.
