Any one sat upstairs on a 747 400 in economy. Is with virgin! If so what's it like, etc etc! Thanks Smile

I've sat there but nearer the front as was premium economy so a bit nicer but the economy looked OK. Is nice and quiet upstairs. We flew return in premium economy and was lush.

Where u going? We went to Caribbean.

Upstairs is better. Fewer people going to loo, quicker service and one of the first off the plane. Would highly recommend it.

Florida. Wasn't sure about it as have kids with us :-)

Have to say there wasn't any kids upstairs on our flight. It was mostly honeymooning couples but then different destinations may mean different things. It was very very quiet and chilled. Between premium economy and economy we had 2 stewards and sometimes a third.

They do draw the curtains between the two sections though but each side can use the loo's at either end of the pod.

Oh us forgotten about first off and can be one of the last in because it doesn't take you three years to find your seat as the pod is so small. That was lovely and helped when they opened one gate to four flights in a tiny airport so you had to physically squeeze your way through a crowd of about 900 people at the airport.

We did last year to Florida and it was v good. There were the three of us in our row and we felt that we had much more room than downstairs. There was a ledge under the window which was about a foot deep which was like an extra storage shelf and meant that all our stuff (pillows, blankets, bags etc) weren't tangled up under our feet. We had the back row (3 on each side) and would definitely choose this section again.

(Wasn't quite as good as the return leg when our premium Economy seats were upgraded to first completely out of the blue Grin

On the carribbean routes and sometimes to Orlando you can sit up the stairs on the 747. It's quite a nice service as there is less passengers hence more time to serve and less stressful. If you fly on a 747 from Heathrow to San Fran and some New York routes there is also economy up the stairs combined with Upper Class. It's a similar set up.

Yes, we did recently on way to St Lucia. It was better than downstairs - fewer people so just felt less crowded somehow. The storage things at the side are handy so you don't have to keep jumping up and down to get stuff from hand luggage, but do mean that you can't lean on window to sleep.

Yes to Australia with two kids and it way better upstairs. Quieter and somehow more spacious.
