Keeping LOs entertained on flights

Anyone got any good inflight entertainment suggestions for LOs?

We are taking an 8 hour flight in a few weeks with our 8mo and 5yo. We fly quite a lot and have exhausted the Charlie & Lola and Usborne sticker books. We have a new DS game for our 5yo but more ideas gratefully recovered.

kids magazines with plastic tat arty stuff, the cebeebies ones are good fot that (just bring some ziploc bags to contain the stuff)

Either ipad or cheap portable DVD player for the 5 year old. Plenty toys, preferably new, even as much as one new thing per hour. I sometimes put these is party bags so they can 'unwrap' them. Pound shops/home bargain types are ideal for this. Colouring books, lots of stickers, sticker books, books, magazines. Aqua doodle mats are quite good.

Also worth taking lots of snacks in case they don't like the plane food.

Thanks for replies. Have iPad and DVD player. What kind of toys? I'm struggling to think of things that aren't too big that she'd play with in a confined space.

What is the favourite film of the moment? A couple of years ago my the 3yo watched toy start three 3x on the way to Dubai. He was happy as were we!

Don't know much about girly toys I'm afraid. How about craft things like mosaic pictures, foil pictures, colouring in, polly pocket type toys (ie small!), I spy book on airports, travel games, few pocket money type toys that you don't mind losing or leaving on plane (that's why poundland ideal).

Just don't get things with loads if pieces that can get lost/dropped.
