I can't recommend the hotel we stayed in (and I forget the name but would recognise it if you posted it) because it was really nor designed for kids (small rooms + travel cot, not nice) - BUT Valencia is lovely. One word of warning if you're going with children: they eat late. And I mean, 11pm is average. We wanted to feed ds at 7ish and McDonalds or a sandwich was our only option. As a result, I spent five nights eating supermarket food out of packets for dinner while he slept, and DH got to gallivant with his colleagues. Grrrrr.

I went to Valencia about 3 years ago and stayed at the Melia Rey Don Jaime - 4*. Small outdoor pool on the 7th floor -be sure to book a room with a descent view(streetside) as our friends room looked out onto a brick wall though and who wants that?!

It was easy to find the hotel from the airport and we walked into the city centre. There is also plenty to do close by the hotel City of Arts and Sciences a place for kids to run around. We didn't think alot of the restaurants in Valencia, but maybe we were unlucky or too fussy. A very nice city though, quite grande and easy to get to the coast.

I have visited Valencia a couple of times as my parents have a villa in the area. It's a lovely place for a day trip or 2, but I wouldn't recommend staying there for a whole weeks with kids. I would recommend a beach resort nearby and take a couple of trips there (fantastic shops!!).
