Alvor, Algarve - would you recommend?

I'm thinking of this resort for mid-July. Our daughter will be 21 months by then and although I've read that it is a popular resort for young families, I'm interested to hear any feedback from people who have actually visited.

We are going in August for the first time (but have been to the Algarve several times) .. look at the Alvor forum on Tripadvisor to give you an idea. It does get very good reviews as a family destinationm and beach looks lovely.

We visited there for a day when we stayed in Lagos a couple of years ago and it was a really nice resort, the beach is lovely. I would like to have stayed there.
