No one in my house is a commuter, otherwise I'm sure we'd know this... but did you know that you can get a Network Rail card (normally £28) for £1 if you ship up at the ticket office with someone who has a "gold" annual rail pass? The Network Rail card gives you, three other adults and 4 children up to 1/3 off tickets that are off peak. I had to really hunt for this info after a friend telling me about it.
