Barbados accommodation

We have the chance to go to Barbados in late June, early July. Will be trying to do the trip on a budget.
Can anyone recommend some self catering accommodation please, which areas are the best, know nothing about the island at all!

There are lots of villas to rent via powers direct or home away (I think it is called that!).

I would recommend the west coast, beautiful beaches and amazing sunsets. The island is really easy to drive around.

Barbados is split into parishes, so either St James or St Peter.

It is a bit more laid back than the south coast, so it depends on what you are looking for.
