Anyone been on a Eurocamp/Keycamp or similar holiday?

DS1 is 3 & DS2 is 20 weeks. My dad has offered to pay for us to go on a week's holiday this summer so was thinking something like the above. We obviously want something reasonably priced as we don't want to take the piss.

Any recommendations?

Yes done Eurocamp a few times, nice holidays, no kids clubs for pre schoolers though plus self catering = shopping, cooking etc.

Don't get tent, get mobile home, go as far south as possible for good weather -a rainy week in a mobile home isn't all that great (Brittany)...

As you not tied to school inks you may be able to get something reasonable price outside school hols that is more of a break !I

eurocamp type hols are great, but if you have to go in school hols are not nec cheap. you might actually find an apartment in spain or portugal cheaper.

brittany is lovely - south brittany has reasonably decent weather stats. guess it depends how far you want to drive.

anyway its a great hol with kids. we did it for 10 years or so. if you go outside school hols it will be much cheaper and early sept is also very good value. ukcampsites.co.uk have reviews. try and go somewhere with decent sized pitches and a good range of facilities onsite

Yes lots. Agree though that sometimes a gite with shared pool can be cheaper - and you get more mod cons. For me the advantage of a mobile home holiday is the kids club. How are you planning to get there? Are you thinking of driving, or flying?

Matthews Holidays can be very good value, small company and not so may sites to choose from, but if you like the regions they cover they are great (Brittany & Vendee).

As an example for a week in June, you could stay here for the same price (or less in fact) than a week in say a Siblu mobile home in the Languedoc.

where do you live? are you on the south coast and planning to go across on the ferry or are you in the north and flying? do you like driving abroad or do you want to minimise this?

personally we didn't like north vendee, but had fab hols in brittany, espec south. but yes did have ones when it rained a lot.

carnac area was great.

We went to La Croix De Vieux Pont last summer with Canvas Holidays but they also book through Keycamp and Eurocamp. It's not that far south but we had lovely weather. There was loads to do if you wanted it but it was a great place to chill out as well. A really beautiful site with lots of open space and flowers.

They're brilliant holidays, especially with little ones, so much space for them to play etc. We've done it a zillion times since DD was a baby, she's now 19 and insisting we do another Keycamp holiday this summer! Languedoc is good, try Sirene or Club Farret. If you don't want to trek all the way down there, try the Loire valley sites. I think the Loire has its own micro-climate, we've always had really good weather there, better than Dordogne where it always seems to be freezing. Any of the sites near Saumur/Tours/Chinon would be lovely, and loads to see in the area.

Has anyone been to the vendee? We are thinking of booking there for June? Or would southern brittany be nicer?

Went to Bella Italian at Lake Garda in Italy, stayed in a Key Camp caravan, absolutely loved it

scarlett - we've been to northern vendee which we found a bit soulless. lots of bungalows. beaches are long and sandy. south vendee is much more like cornwall with better weather - rocky/sandy coves etc. if you look at the weather stats south brittany comes out pretty well - though we have had doggy hols there. some lovely old towns to visit - auray, vannes and beautiful countryside. more hilly that n vendee.
june would be lovely as its really quiet then - you will have great beaches almost to yourself in some places

ukcampsites.co.uk has reviews. suggest getting a detailed map and then you can find beaches off the beaten track. carnac is a lovely area - especially in june as its not too busy. fingers crossed you get good weather. try men du beach - lovely - and we live by the sea and are fussy. memories of crabbing in the sea and rock pools.

I found them very, very pricey for the product. However, we always have to go in the school hols - the prices are crazy then.

If you can get away in June - well outside the 'peak' times, then you will probably pay a third of the peak prices.

One year we went to a site in Brittany - Perros Guirec - with Keycamp. It was a nice site, there seemed to be a lot for the DC to do. Ours are older, but they were all very safe running around and making friends.

Other than a campsite holiday as such - have you considered searchign for a gite in France? Share a pool maybe. There are quite a few which are aimed at families with young children. You will get more peace and quiet - and space in your gite - and possibly the same or less.

We do that now - book using Chez Nous or Owners Direct. Always been okay.

we went to POinte St Gilles, in Brittany in July 2012, with a 10month old.

we LOVED it, though the weather wasnt that great.
