TAKING DOUBLE PRAM INTO AIRPORT?

Hello. I am planning to travel by plane with toddler and baby (4 months). Has anyone ever taken a double pram (mine is the urban detour, yes I know it is huge) past boarding? Would be grateful if you could share your experience with me. Thanks. Smile Also, if you had to put it with the luggage; did it get damaged? Did you leave the wheels on a 2-wheeler or took them off? Sad

Most airlines will let you hand the buggy in at the gate - it will have been tagged at checkin. It will then go in the hold, but be warned, you may not get it back until the luggage carousel on arrival - some destinations will get buggies out from the hold while you wait on the plane - at bigger airports they don't, eg Heathrow, so you will have to lug kids and luggage all the way to baggage reclaim. My double got to australia, all the way round again, home, dubai, spain, france, italy and thailand, and is still going - although I don't have pneumatic wheels so can't help on that front.

I am worried that only "umbrella fold" double buggies will be acceptable after check-in.

we flew into Heathrow with BMI last week and they did get the buggies off at plane. I wonder if its more dependant on the airline??

Bellefleur, I will have this problem in June, so I am bumping the thread to see if anyone else can comment on the huge double tandem pushchair on the plane scenario.

Also, if anyone knows anything about travelling with a Bugaboo...TIA
