where to go?

DH and I are both 40 this year (gulp!) - and want to go away for a weekend - cant go longer as no one willing to have the kids for more than that! any suggestions for a not too expensive weekend abroad?

Amsterdam, City is very nice, lots to see and do not just the red light bit.
Vollendam and Marken are a 30 min bus ride away and make a nice day out as does Delft
