We went to Nerja in the Costa del sol when the children were younger, that was nice and quiet, quite undeveloped. There were still restaurants and bars though. That was about 3 years ago.
Parts of Menorca are lovely as well. Cala Galdana has a beautiful bay.

We love Spain & have been twice with DS but we have stayed away from resorts in the middle of no-where ! Lovely !

My mum lives in Sitges just south of Barcelona. Really lovely beaches for kids. Nice evening nightlife with plenty of bars and restaurants happy to accept you with a buggy. Close enough to Barcelona for a day trip (you can go very easily on the train). Also Porta Aventura is just down the road - and there is a fantastic water park. The majority of people are Spanish but it is not too 'Spanish' if you don't speak the lingo. It is also not as hot as the south and the flight is not as long.

BTW: Sitges is renown to be the gay capital of Spain, but in my opinion this makes it a very fun place to be.

will the waterpark be open at half term, spoo? I know the one here (granada) won't be, and doubt even the ones on the costa del sol will be open.

I like nerja and most of the coast to the east. lots of nice towns and villages, and friendly cafes etc. but the sand is a bit dodgy (so dh complains anyway) if you want nice sand then best place near here is almeria - that's not as touristy as the other coasts, and has a "wild west" theme park where they used to film the spaghetti westerns. be warned though, it's hot already!

Senora - you are right. Both the waterparks don't open till mid June. Sad The two I was looking at are Isla fantasia and Aqualeon. Portaventura is open though and has a smaller indoor water park. If you want any extra info. - let me know.

At Portaventura only the indoor area of the pool complex is open at the moment. The whole of Caribe will be open from the 13th of May. You could easily spend 2 days in the park and the indoor pool area though.

Marebella is nice - we have lots of friends living there now and you acn avoid the resort focused kind of hol - bits of Puerto Banus worth avaoiding and beware everything shuts down on a sunday - so if you rent an apartment stock up on food and necessaries otherwise its find the nearest badly stocked petrol station shop....
