Route 20, New York State

DH and I are planning a road trip for a big anniversary and will be driving from Niagara to Cape Cod during it. Someone has mentioned driving along Route 20, instead of using all the main roads, and said it will take us to some beautiful little places along the way.

Does anyone know Route 20, or live near it, or have been anywhere lovely along it, please? I want to see as much of 'real' America as possible, having only been to New York City before!

I live not too close but close so have been on it, and it is useful,being coast to coast, and it's a great drive too. You drive through scenic small communities, nice views etc; much nicer than some of the smaller roads. Personally, I drive up and use it when I go on holidays along it, instead of some of the quicker routes, because some areas are just lovely, especially the farmland parts.
