Resorts in the Algarve

Have booked flights to Faro in August bat not accommodation .
Looking for a nice resort for 2 adults and a 15 yr old Dd and 10 yrs old DS.
Looking to self cater in the day but eat out a night.

I have just responded to another thread so am probably being annoying, but Praia da Rocha is lovely, from memory it is about 80km from Faro airport, make sure you pre book a taxi as we were royally ripped off on our first visit as we had no idea of the distance and the taxi driver from the airport took us the loooong way round.

The resort itself has an amazing beach, really stunning, some lovely restaurants (Sitting Bull is to die for) and you can do a day trip to the Zoo Marine park which is a great day out.

I went to Vilamoura last year which was lovely - it's quite a big resort with a large marina with restaurants and shops, and some lovely sandy beaches. It's not very Portugeuse though so it depends what you want from your holiday!
