passport runs out two days after we are due to fly home

This will be okay wont it?

We are due to fly to Spain for a weekend 1-3rd Feb and DS's passport runs out on the fifth of Feb. Its his baby one and he doesn't actually look like the photo any more but please reassure me that this will be fine and I'm panicking about nothing.

luckily I have found this info for travelling to Spain:

Your passport must be valid for the proposed duration of your stay. No additional period of validity beyond this is required. However, it is always sensible to have a short period of extra validity on your passport in case of any unforeseen delays to your departure. You do not have to wait until your old passport expires to apply to renew it. Any time left on your old passport when you apply will be added to your new passport, up to a maximum of nine months.

Im sure you have to renew passport 6 weeks before expiry date.

You don't have to renew it ever but they recommend renewing it 6wks in advance of needing it as it may take this long to arrive.

no you dont or there would be no point in having an expiry date. Some countries require a minimum of 6 months to be left on the validity but from the info above it is not a requirement for travel to Spain

I know I should have had it renewed, I thought it was a five year passport but its only a three year one (irish) and so got a bit of a surprise when I just checked it.
