Recommend me a resort in the algarve

Have booked flights for the summer hols flying into Faro.Have a 10yr old and a15 yr old.
We like character,nice beaches and good food.

We love Montegordo, can't wait to go back. Travel Republic have good accommodation there, but just check your central as some hotels are a bit isolated.

Olhao is near Faro. Its a nice town with plenty of restaurants. It doesn't have a beach but that's fine as there are several islands off the coast that you can have cheap day trips to. These are gorgeous with endless white sandy beaches.

Lagos is nice, the old town is lovely and full of character and the beach is lovely there. We had some great food too and very good value in some places.

we stayed here on outskirts of lagos - not this specific apartment but same complex. has a tennis court/football area and you can walk through nature reserve to beautiful beach which isn't too busy this end. you need a car or cab to get into lagos - prob 25 mins walk. couple of nice tavernas on the beach and a few others within walking distance

We have been to Vilamoura, not old or quaint but has a lovely marina, good for tennis and golf, nice beach and lots of nice restaraunts.

Check out Alvor.. we are going in August.. beach looks fab.

Been to Lagos 4 times.. love it there but fancy a change.
