Ravenna - have you been?

I'd like to go to Ravenna to see the mosaics. I'm wondering whether I make it a me & DH weekend, take the DCs (3&5), or go on my own or try to get on a group tour (v.expensive). Any experience?

No experience but bumping for you as I'd like to go too!

It feels like 3 and 5 would be a bit young though.

I know, 3&5 does seem a bit young. I am impatient, and really want to go. DH just isn't a cultural tourist type so I am the driving force and will need to present him with a scenario if it's ever going to happen!

Can you go with a friend then?

Ravenna is lovely and close by, you have the beach in Marina di Ravenna or my favorite Cervia at 20 km. You could combine beach and mosaics. If after one day they are fed up with byzantine art, they can stay at the beach and you'll spend lovely and delicious dinner together afterwards

Thanks, Gordon, that sounds as tho you know the area well. It all seems perfect for me, but think an uphill battle for the rest of the family - DH doesn't much like the beach either!

DoS, we should organise a MN cultural tour...
