I haven't a clue how this will feel. Everybody seems to think I should be wearinf shorts and t-shirt and swimsuit on the beach, I suspect it will be a bit to cool for this.

We are going to be 1hr south of Barcelona next week.

The locals will be wearing stylish woolies, mark my words.

18 deg C is a warm spring day.

FrayedKnot · 07/04/2006 21:32

Prob will get quite hot in middle of day (t-shirts etc) but cooler morning and evening, so I'd take layers and tbh would not be expecting to be stripping off.

As GB said locals will still be in their winter coats and think you are loons if you go onto beach in shorts.

Skribble · 07/04/2006 21:48

Thats more like what i was expecting. I will be in my woolies regardless. DD will be in her bikini. I keep trying to tell them the pool might not even be open but no-one is listening, they have seen the pics which are all tken in high summer so all are convinced it will be tropical Grin.

LOL reminds me of when we visited Portugal a few years back in the November. The locals were all wrapped up and I couldn't resist the sea and ended up swimming in it whilst wearing an ankle length dress and getting the oddest of looks.

Apart from my moment of madness in the sea a cardi/fleece was pretty essential as the weather was nice but far from hot.

Have a nice holiday.

18 is a shade temp. In the sun it will feel quite a lot warmer (well over 20); on the beach it depends on the wind. Layers is good - light clothes and sandals but with cardigans and socks ready for a swift warming change!

JanH · 07/04/2006 22:00

PS We had a hol on Costa del Sol at exactly this time 3 years ago and it was glorious most of the time - the boys in the party spent ages in the sea and the sand was too hot to walk on.

Gingerbear · 07/04/2006 22:01

I went to Barcelona in April and spent 4 days in a raincoat (don't wish to dampen your spirits)

Gingerbear · 07/04/2006 22:02

lol Janh - the Rain in Spain huh?

Gingerbear · 07/04/2006 22:02

But CDS is much further south than Barca!

Skribble · 07/04/2006 22:03

Thanks, I feel more reassured now. I just need a complete packing list now. Don't kow how much to take, I know there is a laundry but been there done that, don't fancy sitting ouside a laundry for a couple of hours because DH thought he would just take 3 pairs pants. Flying with Ryanair so I will have to watch our weight.

MIL is useless as they take hardly anything and "sample them through". They go in a caravan FGS surely she could squeeze in more than 3 pairs pants and socks Grin.

lol, Skribble.
Ryanair are really stingy on weight allowance. Wear most of it on the plane!

JanH · 07/04/2006 22:04

It did rain too, on our trip, but for most of 2 weeks it was hot.

The evnings there are way warmer than the days here!

JanH · 07/04/2006 22:05

Try to put all the heavy stuff in your hand luggage, look casual and pray they don't weigh it!

JanH · 07/04/2006 22:08

I just checked Malaga weather, GB, and it is warmer than Barca, but only c. 5 degrees - 21-24 over 17-19.

17 still much warmer than here!

Skribble · 07/04/2006 22:27

5 deg in cetigrade is a big difference! I have had a look at the forcast and it varies from 19 and sunny to 17 an drizzle or is that drizzel Grin.

Lol at the thought of Skribble & family wearing all their outfits on one go on the plane, like Heidi.

I will do my usual and wear jeans and a fleece while everyone else wears shorts and t-shirts and huff and puff at me saying "just looking at you makes me feel hot", yeh well looking at you goosebumps makes me feel even colder.

I think what ever the weather it can't be any worse than sleeping in the awning of my PIL's caravan, at Easter in a frost in a Scottish campsite. Yesterday we had a blizzard and hail after torrential rain so it has to be better.
