We're going to Legoland for 2 days in the easter hols with dd (7) & ds (4). They are both fans of lego & fast rides. Would appreciate your best tips. (Staying in central London)

Ok probably a really daft question, but would I be stark raving mad to go to Legoland on a Saturday or Sunday? Will we manage to go on any rides or just spend the day stood in queues?

Message from Heb7 - reposted by MNHQ without name of customer service person at Legoland's request.

My husband and family went last week. They had a great time. However, when a family of 4 pay £103, they were disgusted to see that some attractions inside require you to pay. OK, they are optionnal, but what 4 year old understands that? Even though it was a school day, still had long queues so impossible to do everything you would like to.

Refreshments expensive, e.g. they charge £1.75 for a 75cl water bottle. I contacted their customer service dept. Their reply is :

"Thank you for your comments regarding your day out at LEGOLAND Windsor. We do appreciate that for some families it can seem like an expressive day out but for the price of £30 per adult and £23 per child we do offer over 50 interactive rides, live shows and attractions that will keep the whole family entertained all day.

Our prices compare very favourably with other local attractions and fun days out, such as cinemas, football matches, ice skating etc which are for a much shorter duration.

In regards to the extras that we charge for such as the driving licence (license without picture is given out free of charge) and gold wash medals, these are very much an optional extra that guests have the opportunity to take home; it is completely to the guest's discretion.

We also understand that for large families our food and beverage prices can seem expensive however they are also competitively prices with other theme parks and attractions. We also welcome guests to bring packed lunches and offer picnic areas for guests to enjoy their own food and drink.

Please do not hesitate in contacting us again if you have any other queries or comments regarding your visit.

Kind regards,
Visitor Services"

Is that verbatim? Because what, pray, is an 'expressive' day out?

collision · 12/05/2006 17:48

LOL MI!! I wondered the same thing.

Am going next week and taking some food with us. I hate being ripped off so will take water and juice and stop at Tescos for sandwich stuff.

MissChief · 12/05/2006 17:57

you can always buy food in nearby windsor or slough (huge tesco there if you can face it!)

giddy1 · 12/05/2006 18:06

Sad we still havent been
After failing to find any milk with the free child tickets on we used our tesco club card points instead..however I have probably accidently thrown our tickets away because I have very nearly gutted the house in my search and still no luck.
I don't think we are supposed to go!!!!!!!!!

collision · 17/05/2006 22:36

giddy, we are going on Sunday and I have a voucher for a child if you want it.

Lockets gave it to me which I couldnt use as we booked a weekend deal and so I passed it on to my SIL but she doesnt think she will use it as they are going away so it is here if you want it.

This is a brilliant thread. We are off to Legoland next week and am planning on going for dinner once the park closes.
Does anyone know how far it is to central windsor? Also, where is best to park in central windsor and can you recomment a family friendly restuarant,.

Many thanks

dontgetmestarted · 15/06/2007 20:41

i noticed in my local sainsburys the other day(london colney-herts) that they have a l child go free @ legoland on capri sun 10 pack (currently on promotion for 2 for £3.50)
this offer might only apply to large stores though.

Revived this thread rather than start a new one.

I'm going for the first time next month, have accomodation booked not far away. Have a few questions, if anyone can answer please :)

  1. On a friday in term-time will we do it all in one day? (DH, me, and DC's 7 and 4) so no need for baby feeding stops etc.
  1. The reviews on trip advisor make bad reading - should we really save our nectar points and not go? or should we just take heed of the warnings and enjoy anyway?
  1. What are the best rides (i.e. the ones we should run for when the park opens to avoid the big queues)?
  1. What are your best tips for making a good day of it?
hockeypuck · 24/08/2010 19:33

bump please :)

NorrisMcWhirter · 24/08/2010 19:43

There's lots of info (nanny nick's post is great) about rides already on the thread. I would say if you have managed to get a good price getting in then spend the extra money paying for Q-bots. They cost £15 each which is alot but we didn't queue for more than 5 mins for anything and the children did all the rides they wanted to.
Do take your own food as (as many posters have said) the food there is ludicrously priced.

hockeypuck · 25/08/2010 08:08

Thanks Norris. With regards to the Q-bots an earlier post said they were good for up to 6 people, but the website seems to suggest it is one for every person. What is the deal with them?

NorrisMcWhirter · 25/08/2010 12:27

One q-bot between you but you have to pay per person to be registered on the Q-bot. So we would buy one q-bot for four people £15 x 4. HTH.
