I'm looking to book somewhere for my DH, DD, Mum, Dad and FIL (doesn't that sound like jolly, jolly fun!!) - for a warm holiday late August or September. DD is 3, all the others are MUCH older Grin! Would like to be near a beach and would love DD to have own room. Can anyone recommend a villa or hotel option in Crete (or somewhere similar) that we might be able to afford???? So far all the 'child friendly' places I've followed up from adverts have been way too expensive.

why crete Raro. Have to say I hated it when I went and am not generally fussed on the greek islands at all.

What about Menorca/Majorca or the Canaries or Algarve.

What sort of things do you like to do, like noisy or quiet, restaurants, bars, etc?

What is your budget?

Raro · 07/04/2006 19:26

Hmm, budget a tricky one - as my parents are coming. They could stretch to around £1500 for the two of them for flight, accommodation, car hire etc etc (for two weeks).

I thought Crete might be nice, haven't ever been before. Did go to Menorca and it was great for dd, but need other things (besides beach) for the aged ones to do. I like beach and a bit of sightseeing, nice places to eat etc. etc. Don't want all night disco - those days are SO over!!!

ok so £1500 for them, how about for you dd and dh and FIL?

Raro · 07/04/2006 19:34

I guess similar - if you divide by two for FIL and then multiply by 1.5 for us!!!! I think that's a total of about £4500 for all of us for two weeks for everything but the food! - can't you buy a small island with that kind of money???

We went last year with the "Travel Club of Upminster". We stayed at the Eden apartments. The beach is just beyond the pool, a few minutes away. Lovely beach, lots of local restaurants, on a bus route. I seem to remember that the company gives a discount to families of 3 generations. Clean,air-conditioned apartments.

Not cheap, but good service all round, flight, rep, accomodation etc. You get what you pay for! We had come in to money last year, back down to earth this year, Devon, hope it doesn't rain! Kids won't care!
