How hot will Menorca be in early May?

We've booked a holiday to Menorca for 2 weeks arriving on 8 May. I can't wait but am a bit worried it's not going to be very hot. Has anybody else been at this time of year and could you swim comfortably? We chose Menorca for a bucket and spade holiday but I'm worried we could be shivering on the seafront in our cagoules!!!

We went in May, a couple of weeks later than you. It was glorious. The second year that we went was the year Europe was in meltdown. It was incredibly hot.

May is a good time to go I think. Smile

Fantastic, just what I needed to hear. Thanks.

We are going in May but slightly later than you. It is supposed to be lovely but you can look at holidaysuncovered.co.uk to see what other people have experienced this time of year with regards to resort/accommodation and weather

Thought I'd replied to this one, but no, it was the Mallorca one! We went about 5 years ago early May and had good weather. Not too hot, but warm enough to lay about on a sun bed or walk about town in shorts and vest. Daughter went in pool, but it was too cold for me as it was unheated. We had one day of rain. and I mean one WHOLE day of rain.

cod · 28/04/2006 10:48

we went may last year and its was perfect for 10 mth old - warm/hot enough for shorts and t-shirt. too hot for me (i was about 25 weeks pregnant!!). if you get a really hot day though I would sieze the chance to head to the beach because it could be followed by 'warm' days which would be better for walking type activity iykwim... also it did drop cold during the night (not evenings, those were fine)which meant the pool rarely had chance to warm up enough for me to do more than dip a toe in it... some of the men braved a few laps but did admit it was cold...

hcm80 · 30/03/2007 15:51

bump for my information..

mosschops30 · 30/03/2007 15:56

we went at the end of May last year and it rained for 3 days (not all together) it was warm enough in the other days but cooler in the evening.

We are going 2 weeks later this year but think its hit and miss with the balaerics unless you go in august. I know the week before we arrived it was 30 degrees

hcm80 · 30/03/2007 16:06

Thanks - you're right it is hit and miss. We have been in early September and the weather was good then - just occasional showers. I'm not sure whether to book or not - wouldn't want to go on peak time as it's so busy.

mosschops30 · 30/03/2007 16:07

sorry hcm just realised this thread is like a year old

mosschops30 · 30/03/2007 16:08

have to say that the May hols were quite nice, not so bad as peak times (ie in the summer months)

mumtoaprincess · 30/03/2007 21:23

We went 19 May last year. We had mixed weather. 3 days very cold and rainy weather where I wished I had a warm winter coat, some warm days and some very hot days. Take a brolly and some warm clothes as well.
