Neilsons do beach holidays with cycling and great kids activities

Lake Hossegor on the Atlantic Coast is lovely, or Cap Ferret.

nowwearefour · 08/11/2012 23:46

Thanks for those ideas! Anyone been to or heard of Hourtin?

Apart from the fact it's north of Hossegor and the Cap! I assume you know Ile de re?

nowwearefour · 09/11/2012 22:08

Have heard if ole dr re bit was trying to find somewhere further south so cap and ferret will be investigated! Thank you!

I've been to Hourtin its lovely but would recommend Ares as you can cycle through the forest to the Atlantic coast or even to cap ferret. Wonderful place and 45 mins for Bordeux if the weather isn't great or to break up with a bit of culture.

Also from Ares you can travel round all the little villages and if you time it right they have fab festivals each year

I'm just off to book again! We catch the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander and travel up

Another vote for south west france. Been to Hourtin for the day. Lovely. As is where we have stayed regularly, cycling with dd and it has a lake and beach - Messanges.

Agree with earlier poster, Ile de Re gorgeous, great for cycling, fab food, family friendly, great shops - has it all for
short haul

Any links for nice places to stay?
Holiday parks or villa's?
Thanks

MildlyMonica · 01/12/2012 21:02

here

Thanks Monica.
That site looks in a great location but way too busy for us.
The caravans look like they are packed in like sardines.
Thanks for the link though.

There are lots of other sites nearby, in fact there is smaller french one Camping D'Albret next door
