Legoland Fireworks

I am thinking of going tomorrow. We have Merlin passes and are experienced "legolanders" but have never done the fireworks before. DCs are 9 and 6 and desperate to go.

The Legoland website says it gets very busy and passholders can guarantee entrance any time up to 5.50pm for £5ppp. Is it worth paying that? The local fireworks here are £6 for adults and £4 for children so I suppose it's not that expensive. Could I expect to just turn up and get in if I don't reserve a space? I don't really want to have to arrive at 10am if I'm staying till 8pm!
