Has anyone been to Florence?

All tips gratefully received

There's a restaurant/trattoria every couple of steps in Florence, so you'll have no problem whatsoever. Are you looking for somewhere a bit special? If so, I'll look for the name of one that I found recently which ended up being marvelous. Back in a moment

Avoid any restaurant with menus in 4 languages or pictures.
The buses were great.
Book the Uffizi online now or get your hotel to phone on arrival, as otherwise you won't get in. Unless you wander in the exit looking for the toilets!
Fiesole is worth seeing - buses go there too.
Wonderful food.

this was the place I loved

Beware. Most streets have got cobbled stones, so walking around with heels is not easy.

My favourite place in Florence is the Brancacci Chapel, with amazing frescoes by Masaccio. It's in a church a bit out of the way, across the river from the main city IIRC.

Second the recommendation to book for the Uffizi online in advance.

The ice cream places are amazing - our favourite flavour is Zuppa Inglese (English soup), which is actually trifle ice cream!
