Coral bay area - pathos ?

Looking to rent a Villa next may/June for 7-10 days . Does anyone know much about this area at all ? Is there a 'best part' to stay in with best access to the beach .
Never been to Cyprus so have been struggling to find a nice resort that's not rowdy but has some life where we can stroll to of an evening .

We stayed here for a week last year - hadn't been to Cyprus before and wanted a hot holiday without having to do much. It's not a huge resort which suited us, and had a fair number of bars and restaurants - although we didn't eat out every night as they did get a bit samey after a while. Really close to Paphos town and only half an hour or so from the airport.

There are lots of villas and we got one with a pool so spent more time there than at the beach, but the bay is good and quite sheltered. There are lots of villas which all looked pretty good - ours had a fabulous sea view but not all do.

I'd go back for another lazy holiday - culturally it's not the most interesting place so depends what you're after but we had a good time doing very little.

When I first started going to pahos more than 20 years ago Coral Bay was just a beach with a beach bar - we would take a bus or a taxi from our apartment nr paphos harbour and enjoy a day at the beach. It is the best beach in the local vacinity. Now there are hotels bars and restaurants at the bay. It certainly isn't big enough to be rowdy and there are enough choices there to keep you entertained and paphos harbour is worth a visit (there are the moasaic ruins very nearby) which you can easily reach by bus from coral bay.

We went a few years ago. It's not busy like the other resorts but plenty of shops and restaurants to stroll to, as long as you are staying in Coral Bay itself, not the nearby villages in the hills. Everywhere is driveable, Cyprus isn't massive, we drove from Coral Bay to Protaras (other end of the island) and it took about 3 hours. It was a while ago when we had a holiday there, about 10yrs but we went back for a day (were holidaying elsewhere) about 4 years ago and it hadn't changed. There is a hill nearby a kind of optical illusion, you look like you are going uphill but if you take the handbrake off you roll forward, I found it fascinating.
