Anyone stayed on Meganisi? Prettybird I know you have...

Thinking of booking a little villa there for a week, just wanted your experiences. Figure we will just potter around in the sea/boats with dd and eat with her and get early nights, not looking for excitement. Have been there a couple of time for the day but not stayed.

Any taverna recommendations etc

Sorry - not been on much this week - been really busy at work.

We really enjoyed our stay on Meganisi - we went with \link{http://www.ionianislandholidays.com\Ionian Island Holidays} (excellent service) and stayed in a lovely family run hotel, the Meganisi Hotel in Katomeri. As it was on the hill above the town (Vathi), we ended up eating there most nights - but it was really good food, cooked by the owner's father and mother. Didn't cost us much either!

There's not much to do on the island except chill - which was just what we wanted. If we'd had longer (only had a week, one day of which we lost due to flight delays), we'd have hired a wee motor boat to get to some of the other beaches. There is an excellent mini bus service that takes you around the island (costs peanuts) and is an expereicne in itself as it goes through tiny village streets that yu wouldn't belive a car could get through, let alone a mini bus.

We had some nice lunches on the harbourside in Vathi, and dh and ds had fun "fishing" (didn't catch anything Grin). Also did a day trip over to Nidri - more for the expereince of the ferry than anything else.

We'd go back! :)

Bump for CountessDracula in case she hadn't noticed that I did eventually respond. :)

I do hope that CounteeDracula odes see this - we really enjoyed our stay on Meganisi as a "chill out", nothing else to do sort of desitnation.
