sounds amazing but only happened to chance across it and have not seen it mentioned on any of the usual kids websites - any reason for this?
also is anyone avoiding or not, turkey, in light of the bird flu outbreak?

sorry not been to Lykia World but have seen it advertised. Have been to Olu Deniz on a last minute break a couple of years ago and it is wonderful. It is the most beautiful bay area I've ever been to, there are boat trips and all sorts like that to do, bookable directly in the village of Olu Deniz. The beach is lovely and relatively quiet (not high season though). I'd jump at the chance to go back there, its not a farming area so bird flu not too much of a problem but avoid the chicken at dinner!

bumping this up to the top cos I'd like to know what Lykia World is like too.

thank you - ooh olu deniz does sound gorgeous. I'm quite surprised at the lack of response because from the sounds of it ie creche from 6 months up it should be better known and particularly by MN? Can i ask what time of year you went and if you think it would be too hot for a 2 and 3 year old?

yummyyummymummy have just bumped another thread about Lykia World for you. Check reviews for the Lykia World Village on \link{http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g312737-d551254-Reviews-Lykia_World_Village-Oludeniz_Mugla.html\Tripadvisor}. Hope this helps.

yumyummymummy - we went right at the start of June and it was 28 degrees. Personally I think that would be a bit too hot for my 3 year old, but then our room wasnt air conditioned. In a nice hotel like Lykia World I imagine it would be more bearable. Seriously thinking about going again next year and would consider Lykia World but would probably go in May when its still sunny but a bit more in line with our good hot summer days mid 20s.

after loads of research on the internet and using trip advisor plus holiday truths and various other reviews for lykia world i have booked for us to go for 2 weeks in June. Bearing in mind the facilities and how geared up for kids it is and that the childcare is free - i am amazed that there is not much on MN about it. Anyway if its as good as its made out to be i will be singing its praises on mums net!

yym - we went to Lykia world at October half term and really loved it. We have booked to go again in August this year (we never go to the same place twice). I know it will be very hot, but there's loads of air conditioning at Lykia World and also lots of shaded areas.

I'm sure you will love it. DD loved the kid's club and DH and I got to enjoy some quality time as there are 2 adult only pools. There is a Children's Paradise with loads of shade up in the pine trees I think your 2 and 3 year olds will have a ball.

Oh, was just going to post a thread about this place too - I am pretty certain we are going to book for early May so will let you know how we go!

PoofieWuddle, Would you be kind enough to tell me what was the weather like at Lykia over October half term. Was it too cold to enjoy the pools and chilly in the evenings? I gather end October/early November is really end of season in Turkey and I'm a wimp if the water and/or weather is cold Grin

PoofieWuddle · 04/04/2006 20:00

Copycat - in the last week of October we had really gorgeous weather during the day - perfectly fine for sunbathing. The pools were very cold but we did use them to cool off at times during the day. It gets dark quite early at night and it is cool but we still ate outside - just needed a cardigan. I guess the weather is possibly a bit less predicatable in late October but I think it's a lovely time to go to Turkey. We had much nicer weather than in July/August in Northern Spain.

yumyummymummy · 15/04/2006 22:19

We went to Olu Deniz in August and it was scorching! the resort is pretty , we stayed \link{http://www.oludenizbeach.com/belcekiz.html\here} which is a great hotel. The resort is very touristy so if you are looking for somewhere that is typically Turkish then this may not be the right sort of place, but for a beach holiday - then perfect!
