We are going on a trip to Vegas at the end of May. It is for my best friends hen weekend/trip. The boys are flying out earlier in the week then the girls half way through the week to meet up.
The stag and hen have been to Vegas a couple of times before but I've never been, but as her best friend I feel I should organise a full on girls night out.
So what are the great places to go? And what is really really over-rated?

Went to Vegas a couple of years ago at end of May but had a one year old in tow so probably not the best to give advice.

But daytime - it's hot so you probably don't want to stray too far from the hotel pool. But Stratosphere - is good for views of the strip & some very extreme scary rides hanging off the top of the tower.

If budgets can stretch to it a helicopter ride over the grand cannon is fantastic - we did a trip that flew over the cannon then touched down at a real cowboy ranch for dinner - the ranch was once owned by the guy who wrote Butch Cassidy & the Sundance kid.

For evening - got to obviously go the casino's - try keno - which is bingo - that's great fun & the croupiers will teach you any of the games. You also should walk the strip to see the free displays outside of the hotels - the bellagio fountains dancing are a must! Vegas is good for shows - find out wants on during your week - but Madonna & other big stars always have concerts on

Some of the hotel entertainment shows are a bit over-rated and over-priced. Which Hotel are you staying at?

I'm so jealousEnvy! Best place for a few days fun ever! Me and dh did not really do much on the sight seeing front, i have to confess. We stayed at the Luxor and the pool bit was fab as was the weather (end of may also), so I sunbathed and drank cocktails and in the evening, went to the casino(put it all on black etc. Know no rules at all. Won 150 dollars) Wonderful wonderful fun. No clocks anywhere, so can end in carnage.
PS (whispers)must confess to really enjoying the fountain display at the Mirage.
Have a wonderful time!

thanks for the tips - we don't know whether to stay in a lesser known hotel to save a few pennies so we can spend them else where - apparently you have to pay to use your hotel pool?!

Just found out the return flight gets back a day later than we were originally told Angry- we didn't know it was an over night flight so know we need to sort out an extra day and night childcare!

I went to the Venetian pre-dd. I had the best time! You get a huge room (practically a suite) for next to nothing. It was fabulous! Great service, lovely restaurants, amazing canals inside.

My top tip is to gamble a couple of dollars on the roulette table & then you get a free $7 glass of wine - they give out free booze to the gamblers and overprice it the rest of the time (at least they did in the venetian, I assume its the same in the other hotels)

It's very hot. The buffets & food are good, the shops are amazing.

I would kill to go back. I really enjoyed myself. I didn't particularly sight-see though, just enjoyed being in Vegas. I did some amazing spa treatments in the Venetian & lots of basking by one of their pools.

I got married in LV and stayed at the Luxor, fab suite at the top of the pyramid.

I thought the hotel next door was better when we had a meal there, think it was called the Mandelay Bay (??), it's covered in gold tiles.

I wouldn't stay in a cheap hotel tbh, the other end of the strip is a bit minging imo.

Ah yes, it's not classy cod that's for sure.

But if you go in the right spirit, it's fun. You can get a suite for the price of an awful room in Blackpool, there are designer shops galore for the high-rollers, free booze for the gamblers and amazing spas for the ladies. I had the best spa treatments ever there.

I hate gambling but still had a great time - it's just Vegas. It's different. I'm glad I experienced it. I wouldn't live there, I wouldn't take my mum there. I'm glad I saw the kitsch.
