Flying with Monarch to Tenerife - what are they like compared to Easyjet etc?

We're flying to Tenerife with Monarch and just wondered what they were like compared to Easyjet and Ryanair. I don't mind Easyjet - for a budget airline, but I really don't like Ryanair. Just wondered what others experience of Monarch was like in comparison. We'll be flying with DCs who are 7 and 5

If you can afford it then go for the £30 per person (last time I checked) upgrade, otherwise anyone over 5ft tall will have their knees squashed.

I remember nice plether seats and proper seat numbers.
Ryanair is horrid and easyjet is fine for what it is.
