We will have a full Friday in Edinburgh on 2nd November plus a Sat am and the Thursday night. Have a baby, a 4 year old, a 7 year old and an 8 year old. Oldest two very into Harry Potter. Don't want to go to the zoo but what else would be a great day for our lot? And good places to eat - they are adventurous eaters...even have a taste for haggis...!

We love the National museum of Scotland (free) always had lots to see and some fun activities for the kids. My dd who is 7 loved Camera Obscura, quite pricey but you can get kids go free vouchers sometimes (travel in Scotland on a kids go free ticket which probably won't be an option for you or if you are a member of dobbies gardening club). Both are close to the Royal mile.

There is also the dynamic earth close by but can be quite frightening for the younger ones I have heard although there is also a small soft play there which is an option.

The elephant house cafe where JK Rowling wrote some of Harry Potter is very nice and just round the corner from the National Museum.

Hello! Just saw this and we've been now but did indeed go to the Museum and to the Elephant House. Then checked out 'Tom Riddle's' grave in Greyfriars. So thanks anyway - clearly all on the same wavelength!
