Munich - where to stay and what to do?

We have a day and night to spend in Munich in February, en route to visit family.

Will be with dc aged 13 and 11, grateful for recommendations of nice place to stay and best places to visit given we will be there for such a short time.

Are your DCs interested in cars? In which case there's a big BMW museum. Also you can have tours of the Olympic Stadium (including walking on the roof). I think both of these are next door to each other.

Both Neuschwanstein and Linderhof castles are within easy reach of Munich too.

BMW museum sounds good.

We have done neuschwanstein before.

Anyone got any recommendations for where to stay?

Or if you are interested in science there is the Deutsches Museum.
