Does child's passport no stay the same when you renew their passport?

Am wanting to get flights booked but booking requires passport numbers. We need to renew DD's passport and I assumed her no would stay the same but now not so sure and don't want to mess up booking. Anyone know the answer?

Child passport only lasts for 5 years - you reapply for a passport and get a new number

PestoSandalissimos · 28/09/2012 19:18

No you get a new passport with a new passport number.

No, her number will change upon renewal.

Do you have to pay for renewals? Both my kids' have expired and I'm hoping it won't be £70 each...

Chubfuddler · 29/09/2012 08:16

Yes, it's about fifty quid I think.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 29/09/2012 19:36

£46.00 to renew child's passport.

Outrageously you do have to pay for renewals. Even worse, they cost the same as an adults 10 year one and only last for five.
Can you tell I am bitter?
