Can anyone recommend a good restaurant in central London for four women to spend a lovely evening in this coming Sat? Looking for a really special place and hopefully one that won't boot us from our table after a few hours.

Have a look at this website because it has lots of reviews on restaurants:-

or try www.squaremeal.co.uk.....

I am always very fond of Kensington Place at the end of Kensington Chirch Street.... a bit pricey, but fab reliable quality, been around for long enough to not just be this years trendy hotel. Buzzy, lots of locals in it, great wine list. Enjoy, wherever you end up in!

orangina · 20/03/2006 19:54

sorry, i typed hotel when i meant restaurant! My mind is on trying to book a holiday!

Club Gascon is gorgeous my fave

What sort of vibe are you after?

Thomcat · 20/03/2006 19:59

Well my personal fav is Osteria Bascillica in Notting Hill. It's Italian, cosy, buzzy, great food. But depends what you want. There's so much to chose from.

orangina · 20/03/2006 20:01

ooh, I agree with Thomcat! Definitely another good one (and cheaper than K Place...).

Baltic on Blackfriars road is great. Very buzzy, great decor, fantastic and interesting food - , great cocktails. I went for a girl's night with 3 friends and we all loved it.

NotQuiteCockney · 20/03/2006 21:51

I am dubious about chez bruce, but largely due to the name. Is it franco-australian, or what? And why do they tell people off?

(We had a lovely lunch at Canteen the other day, in Spitalfields. Probably pretty relaxed on a Saturday night? Really lovely place. Oh, and Les Trois Garcons is meant to have a lovely ambiance etc, although it might be booked up already ...)

kitegirl · 20/03/2006 21:55

a vote for Baltic - have always had a fantastic night there!

Mercy · 20/03/2006 21:58

What sort of food would suit all of you - and how central?

CountessDracula · 20/03/2006 23:00

i hate chez bruce because

  1. It is up itself - I went with a group of friends and we were told off for laughing too loudly Shock
  1. The food is average but they seem to think it is incredible, can't take any critcism.
  1. It is (or was) the only decentish restaurant in the area so rested on its laurels and became even worse

sorry

There is a Polish Restaurant in St Albans Grove, nearest tube station is High STreet Kensington It's called Wodka. It's a stones through from my fIL's house and Dh and I always go there when we're in London. the food is great, it's always very busy as it's so popular.

I'll miss it this year as we're not going to London Sad
