pre booked train ticket problem

I have to travel tomorrow for work . The business support team booked train tickets and emailed the links for each ticket to the individuals who are travelling.

One member has just gone to fetch her ticket from the station (I was going to leave mine until travel time) and has been refused . This seems to be because the debit/credit card she put in the machine is not the one used to buy the tickets. The instructions just say to use a card not a specific one.

Is this always the case or is there a way we can overcome this for the rest of the party?

Whenever I've booked train tickets it always says you need to use the card you booked with to pick the tickets up.

I had this problem recently. It does need to be the card used to pay for the tickets unfortunately. The ticket office man I asked for help said that I should ring the website I booked through and they would be able to sort something out. I had to buy new tickets though as I had no time to contact the site before my train left, as I had only gone to collect the tickets when I went to travel. Hope you can get it sorted out.

Bugger - no way of knowing the details .I only have the booking reference for collecting the tickets.

I thought it seemed too easy Sad

I will have to buy my own ticket then . Bugger again - more money to pay out. This will be an expensive week.

Very bad planning on the part of the business support team. It does have to be the card they were booked on.

Just a quick update ...

My colleague spent ages on the phone today and they reset the access to 3rd party retrieval which is what it should have been originally.

I went to the station expecting to have to do battle with the machine + phones but instead simply waltzed up to the collect ticket machine , put my own debit card in (card isnt charged - no idea why its needed) ,entered the reference number and collected the tickets. No problemo Grin

And I worked myself up for nothing

< actually quite impressed that it was possible to get it sorted out on a Saturday>

Glad to hear it turned out fine - hasn't realised it could be set to third party retrieval. Is that just for businesses or can everyone do it I wonder?

Mine always says any card, and i just use whichever is top in my purse.

Miranda I think it is only for corporate use.

But that is only what the booking clerk led me to believe when I told her the long sad story and she told me to just try the card first and then come back to her if it didn't work.
