Pre- Theatre dinner in London - any recommendations?

Got some pals coming down from Manchester, and recently they took me out to a rather lovely (and excellent value) restaurant,so I would like to reciprocate but in highly expensive London town!

So, can anyone recommend a good value eatery near Shaftesbury avenue (not chinese tho.)

TIA

If you want cheap and cheerful there is a very good value Italian / pasta / place at the Charing Cross rd end of Old Compton St...what's that called? Not Pollo - the one nearer Cx Rd.

But my top choice would be Mon Plaisir, that is a lovely place.

there's a wonderful French restaturant called Mon Plaisir on Great Monmouth street I think. They specialise in pre-theare meals as well as the normal sittings.. Last time I went the food was lovely.

Linda's Pasta Bar (Berwick St) does lovely food, reasonable prices

A slightly different suggestion - Dinner Plaice on Berwick St does fab fish and chips - it is literally a fish and chip shop, but a darned good one!

unicorn · 19/03/2006 00:24

ta puff.. will put those on the shortlist!!
