I'll be in London next monday for the day with a friend. We both have dds, I'm thinking science museum? But wondering if there is anything for younger ones there? Any ideas?

Basement in the science museum has hands-on activities for small persons.

If the weather is good Hyde Park's Princess Diana's memorial playground is good.

There are a few bits in the scienec museum for the younger ones, but its mainly geared at older kids.

I would say science museum and then u r also not a million miles away from Hyde park if the weather is nice.

Natural history museum (next door) could be good depending on child as there are lots of animals to look at.

NellyJob · 13/09/2012 21:13

now that the kids zone in the science museum has moved upstairs, it is separated into parts suitable for younger and older children.

Otherwise Hamleys toy store just down from oxford circus could be worth a visit- though will most likely end up costly.

There are also a number of city farms depending on where in London you are planning to go. Nearest one to central I can think of is mud chute.

There is also the free history of childhood museum at bethnall green. Has a nice cafe there as well. Lots to look at and usually enough activities going on

If you are interested in completely the other side of London, the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green has a sandpit, changy colour lights thing, Lego, dressing up, rocking horses, baby section with toys and a nice cafe...and nearby Victoria Park has a new and lovely playground.

NellyJob · 13/09/2012 21:16

city farm at Vauxhall is quite nice...

If the weather is dry there is park with a big sandpit in St James' Park.

Forester · 14/09/2012 13:21

I meant playground with big sandpit ...

UptoapointLordCopper · 14/09/2012 13:47

The St James' park playground was shut last time we were there. Spring time, I think ... can't remember ...

thanks all, my friend lives in hammersmith so we will most likely stay west anyway I imagine so reckon it will be both science and natural history museum. My two favourites so I'm happy there :)
