Which is the cheapest week of the summer holidays?

I have to plan my years holiday mostly in advance (as well as DH's) to try and ensure maximum parent-at-home-less-childcare-fees coverage. I have no idea if we'll be able to afford a holiday next summer, and I was thinking we might do a last minute.

Anyway, I was wondering if there is a week in the summer that is generally cheaper than full on 'peak'. Maybe the first or last week? I know I can do some research, I'm currently just being lazy and someone might already have done it for me!

If you choose to go abroad then pick the last week of August. A lot of schools in Europe go back late August. Certainly if you go to France and book direct you can get some very good deals.

The last week is usually the cheapest.

Was going to say last too (as long as you are not in Scotland, where school holidays are different from the rest of UK)

NEXT QUESTION:

which day do week-long package holidays usually start on? is there a norm?

ie. would it be a good idea to book an extra day off work on the Friday>

there isn't a norm - it depends on flights but if you have an idea where you want to go you canresearch it i guess.
don't discount camping/mobile homes in france/spain/Italy all are very good value
