Barcelona in Oct half term

I am thinking of booking a trip to Barcelona for the October half term and wondered if anyone has been at this time of year. I know it won't be hot like in the high season, but will the weather still be nice enough to get out and about? We have young children who enjoy being outside and I think that Barcelona has many places that we could visit and enjoy out of the summer heat!

Also, if anyone has any recommendations for places to visit whilst we are there it would be great! We'll have a car and so would be able to get out and about easily.

(please excuse the typing I have been up with ill DS all night, and holiday planing has got me through!) Grin

Hi, it will be mostly warm but you may get a few rainy days. We were in that area a few years ago and some days it was nice enough for the beach and other days you needed a brolly or light rainjacket. Always warm though, about 20-25 degreees in daytime.

Parc Guell is fab, lovely place for a wander about. The 'Poble Espanol' (spanish village) is also good.

If you want a break, Tarragona is worth a visit, smaller quieter city, Barcelona can be pretty hectic.

I wouldn't bother with a car - public transport is great - and a car would be more hassle than it is worth. Agree it should be warm. Last time I went was in November - we walked round in t-shirts during the day and they were putting up the Xmas lights.

Parc Guell, the funfair on Mount Tibdabo, cable car ride across the harbour, the aquarium, the Gaudi buildings, strolling on the Ramblas - the indoor market (Boqueria??) is fabulous. The zoo, the Olympic port. I love Barcelona.

Thanks so much for the replies. It sounds like there will be plenty for us to do there! The weather sounds like it will be better for the DC as when we went to Spain in July this year it was definitely too hot for them!

I have been before many years ago and loved all of the Gaudi buildings, so I am looking forward to seeing them again and want to visit Guell park this time.

I will make sure that I pack the waterproofs in case of showers and layers to accommodate the weather! DH and the DC don't seem to mind the weather, but I always feel the cold much more than them, so I'll pack some cardi's for me!

Really looking forward to it now! It was a tough toss up between Barcelona or the canaries and I was worried that I had made the wrong decision.

Thanks again!
