2/3 bed apartment in the med that doesnt cost thousands....any ideas?

Have posted this question before and got little response :(

Just wondered if anyone had been anywhere this year? Needs to sleep 5 and have a proper kitchen (not just kettle and toaster like some places have).

I'm on shock at thomsons etc that want 4K plus for 10/11 days in the summer.......

Have you looked on owners direct?

Depends what you like, but I have been to La Entrada, Punta Prima (fly into Alicante or Murcia) for the last few year.
Google there will be a few on holiday rentals or owners direct.
Most are sleep 4 in 2 bedrooms, but would probably fit a camp bed.
I pay around £300 per week.

Thank you - i have looked on owners direct, but would prefer a bit more of a 'hotel' feel like you get in apartment complexes.

I'm also really fussy - want lovely but not at a lovely price

Which websites did you use chasing

I like places that aren't overrun by brits, english pubs etc. If i go to Spain I like to feel like i'm in Spain....

Estepona is very nice and has been quiet this year - fly to Malaga

What about Gibraltar - we're all still on beach here and it's 28.5 here at half 7 at night

We went to the Pueblo Marineros Appts in Playa Blanca Lanzarote this year. We had a 2 bed, it was more like a house than an apartment as the bedrooms were upstairs. It had room to sleep one on the sofa bed down stairs and the kitchen was quite big. I know it had a hob, not sure about an oven cause we didn't use it!

It was all right. I wouldn't rush back because we have stayed in better. If you want to go this year you'll be ok but next year it is going over to adults only.

Mrs grrr.....it's just started raining here! (Fabulous weekend to be fair though)

We have stayed in better apartments and villas in Majorca, Lanzarote and the Algarve mrsmoody. But we only have 2 DC so we have has 1 beds and don't use the kitchen for anything other than breakfast and a snacky lunch!

We like having a villa more than an apartment if I am honest.

I, also, will never, ever holiday with Thomson again after the way I was treated on the flights, how they messed up the booking and how they spoke to me in the shop when it transpired that the apartments we were supposed to be going to were in the middle of building work and they forgot to tell me! fortunately we found out before we went, but we lost our free child place and I had to pay another £600 and travel a week later just to get a holiday. We only used them in the first place because we won some vouchers towards the holiday!

When we were looking we found that Thomas Cook were cheaper. We have used them in the past and the standard of accommodation was excellent.

I just don't see how they get away with their prices now people can book online for far cheaper........and with dodgy servie like you have experienced!

MrsMoody if you see somewhere close to me you like the look of I can go and check it out for you - Maybe see if I can get it cheaper locally

We're similar, like the space of self-catering (& to have more than 1 room) but private apartments/villa's can be very quiet & thats good if you want to 'get away from it all' but can sometimes be not so good for kids who can have poolside fun etc with other children in aparthotel style places.

We hired a 3 bed villa with a shared pool this summer is Los narrejos (a stones through from Murcia airport) for £450 a week. Was lovely.

Try this woman - lovely apartments and villas in Menorca. The ones in Playas de Fornells are lovely.

Regency Country Club in Tenerife. If you search on trip advisor or Late Rooms you should find it. You need a car as it is a bit away from the beach/restaurants etc.

We stayed in casa Andrea in cala n porter in men orca. Not the hotel feel you want but proper kitchen and 'proper' furniture (I can't abide the conservatory furniture you get a lot). Own pool too and very good value.

Hotel Playa Golf in Sitges - we got a good deal in last minute.com but you might find others. Appart- hotel 2 bed apartments with proper kitchenette and extra pullout. nice (pink..) resort. You can get there by train from Barcelona.
