Is Palma de Mallorca beach a nightmare?

Further to my previous thread about looking for a week's sun next year, I've found flights and a nice apartment in Palma.

The city looks lovely but I'm just wondering whether the beach will be horrendous in August?

It will be busy, that's for sure. I don't think you'll find any beaches in Spain which are not packed in August, except for maybe in Santander or any other Cantabric town.

actually, a few years ago I went to a beach in mainland Spain called Xilxes (Chilches) which was rather empty, just a few locals there.

Thanks - we're going to try Menorca instead!
