2-bed house near beach and amenities - not too touristy and sun, PLEASE!

After two rainy weeks in Devon we're determined to go abroad and get some sun next year - we couldn't do (or afford!) two weeks on a beach but a week would be perfect.

Can anyone recommend somewhere suitable for DH and I plus DD 10yrs and DS nearly 5yrs (by next summer)?

We love Tavira but don't fancy the schlep to the beach if we're only there for just a week - same goes to getting to the house from the airport.

Any ideas would be very welcome (nobody mention 'moon on a stick'...)!

We paid about £600 for the wk. Spotlessly clean & bigger than it looks in the photos. Right next to the beach & Spiros boat hire. Stunningly beautiful (the mountains not Spiros). fantastic food at the local taverna (up the hill) with amazing views.
