Travelling to Australia with 6 month old

Any advice for a long haul flight with a 6 month old please.

I have requested a bassinet on the website with our seats. We have a night flight to Dubai. No stopover. The plan was to have her in a sleep suit and a sleeping bag when in bassinet.

Milk will be Pre ordered and collected at boots airside. the plan is that the cartons will be used on the flight. Already checked with Australian customs that we can take it thru.

Any other advice greatfully received

I think you have a lot of it covered. Remember you must declare any food you take into oz on your card. If baby uses a dummy keep that handy for take off and landing or use milk for ears.

I went to Aus with 7 month old at time. I'd been warned about cabin pressure on small bottoms. Took a spare set of clothes one way but not the other way when I really should of.

A sling is quite helpful although at Dubai they do supply buggies for when you are transferring flights.

I would also take calpol, just in case. I lent mine to a woman with a screaming baby on the way to Australia. I think she would have married me if she could.

I used a sling when my dd was two as you can rest and you know where they are.

I would second the spare clothes & calpol. I took dd to Sydney when 7 months old & she developed awful diarrhea within 2 hrs of the flight. Ended up having to throw away 2 sets of clothes & a sleeping bag & wrap the poor thing in a muslin! Plus take mOre nappies & bottles than you'd expect to need - just in case!

Also bear in mind with sleeping bag plan that you may need a travel one as virgin made us keep dd strapped into 3 point harness in bassinet at all times so normal sleeping bag wouldn't have been any good

Thank you all for the advice. Much appreciated. I'll add the calpol to my Boots order

I've done the flight a lot of my own with kids of various ages and you should definitely take a change of clothes for yourself because it's no fun sitting in a top that has been vomited on Grin.

I think you've covered everything. Make sure you take Calpol sachets as you might not be able to take a bottle on. Also they don't sell sachets over here so bring plenty.
I think 6 months is a good age, we emigrated when DS was 17 months and it was hell! Blush

I agree cheeks. It's bad enough having to wait a short time to change a top that's been vomited on, but a few hours Grin

Thanks sharks. I'll look into the sachets
