Hi we want a few nights with family, pretty mixed bunch of ages! Only want about three hour drive from Kent/London. Northern France possible too. Thanks.

Have a look at groupaccommodation.com and bigholidayhouse.com both specialise in larger properties for holiday rents. we have used them a couple of times and find the websites good.

We had a similar problem too and my sister solved it by just googling "large holiday properties in Derbyshire" which is where we wanted to go! I had been trying all sorts of ideas and never imagined it would be so easy. Have to say, though, that I foolishly thought that the larger properties would be the ones left, but it doesn't seem to work like that.

Have tried all of that, just when you think you`ve found one its booked! Very frustratingly emailed about 6 properties that said they were available and got replies back saying sorry already booked!

Have you tried the cottages for you website?
You can do an availability search typing in where you want to go and when, stipulate how many bedrooms and any other requests you may have (takes dogs, near a pub etc ).
I've just found one in the Isle of Wight.
Only issue is, half term is considered peak season so would be unlikely to get one just for a few days but you can try.

Try this site Not France but Belgium, loads of big houses showing as available and you can sort by feature. The area around Namur would be about 2.5 hours from Dunkirk or Calais.

Another alternative with availability for 12 that week is Hoog Vaals with www.landal.com. Here That would be about a 3 hour drive from Dunkirk. We have been 3 times and it is lovely with lots to do nearby.
