Isle of Wight - tell me where we should stay

we want to go next August but not sure what area to stay and where to stay

could anyone recommend what part to stay in - us and our Ds age 7. We like beaches, theme parks and nice pubs with good food.

happy to SC and would prob prefer a cottage (2 beds) or am open to a caravan if facilities are good

We stayed at The Lighthouse in Steephill Cove. The accommodation and setting was fantastic. Only pain was that it had limited access so you parked and the walked down steep steps/hill to a small cove where the property was. The cove itself is lovely and great for kids. The whole cove is owned by one family so the have houses there, 1/2 other rentals, a coffee shed, restaurant and crab shack.

It's not far from Ventnor which can be walked to along the coastal path.

Sandown.

Bembridge is lovely.
